These are the failures we find over and over in Indian service businesses that are already spending money on marketing. None of them are exotic. All of them are cheaper to fix than they are to keep paying for.
01The six-hour reply
An enquiry lands at 11am and gets answered at 6pm, or the next morning. Nobody inside the business thinks of this as a marketing problem. It gets filed under “we were busy”.
What it costs you: You are usually not losing to a better business. You are losing to whoever replied first.
02Nobody knows which ad produced the phone call
The phone rings, the caller says they found you online, and that is where the record ends. No call tracking, no source, no way to connect a rupee spent to a customer gained.
What it costs you: Every budget decision after that is a guess, including the decision to stop spending on the thing that was working.
03Paid traffic pointed at the homepage
The ad promises one specific thing. The click lands on a homepage with eight menu items that asks the visitor to work out where to go next.
What it costs you: You pay full price for the click and then ask the visitor to do the selling for you.
04Reports full of reach, empty of revenue
Impressions, reach, followers, engagement rate, video views. Numbers that go up every month while the bank account does not.
What it costs you: You cannot tell a good month from a bad one, so you cannot stop doing the thing that is not working.
05One follow-up, then silence
One message goes out. No reply. The lead is quietly moved to “not interested” and never touched again.
What it costs you: Almost nobody buys on the first message. The enquiries you already paid for are still sitting in the phone.
06A Google Business Profile nobody has opened since setup
Half-filled, default category, no recent photos, reviews unanswered, hours wrong. Meanwhile the ad budget goes up.
What it costs you: It is the highest-intent free surface a local business has, and it is being ignored in favour of paid clicks.
07Past customers never contacted again
The list of people who have already paid you sits in a phone, a diary or a spreadsheet, and nothing is ever sent to it.
What it costs you: The cheapest revenue in any service business is the revenue you have already earned once.
08Invisible when someone asks an AI
Buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI answers who they should use. If your site does not clearly answer the questions they are asking, you are not in the answer.
What it costs you: You are not being rejected. You are not being retrieved, and you will never see it happen in your analytics.
